Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk Recalls Medic’s Words After His Heart Attack

It’s been almost three years since actor Bob Odenkirk had his heart attack on the set of Better Call Saul. The Emmy-winning actor made a full recovery, it scared his family and fans worldwide, but also someone else: the on-set medic.

The star collapsed on the set of Better Call Saul in New Mexico on July 28, 2021, and was rushed to the hospital. Days later, he described the incident as a “small heart attack.” Odenkirk recalled what happened in a recent interview with the Multiple Talking Women podcast, saying the medic froze after he slumped down and his heart was beginning to fail.

“It was his first day,” Odenkirk said (via EW). “And he said, ‘Oh no.'”

The actor had already passed out and luckily didn’t hear him say that. The medic later apologized for freezing up before jumping to action. He also confessed that he didn’t know how to perform CPR.

“Weeks later when I came back, he said, ‘I’m so sorry it was my first day, I have been a firefighter,’–he was retired–‘I’ve never done CPR. l have only ever seen other people do it,'” Odenkirk recalled.

He later returned to work on the final season in early September 2021, with the series finale airing the following year.

Star Wars Is Returning To Fortnite At The Most Obvious Time

Star Wars content is coming back to Fortnite in May just in time for the Star Wars holiday of May the 4th. A teaser video confirms that the latest Star Wars x Fortnite crossover event begins May 3, but we don’t know just yet what content might be included in this newest wave.

“I’ve got a good feeling about this…” reads a line from Fortnite’s announcement post, riffing on Luke Skywalker’s “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” line from the 1977 original movie.

The teaser suggests that the Star Wars event will span Fortnite’s battle royale mode, as well as Lego Fortnite and the Fortnite Festival rhythm game.

Epic and Star Wars previously teamed up for Ahsoka, Anakin, Padme, Finn, Rey, Darth Vader, and Stormtrooper outfits, among numerous others. 2023’s Star Wars event in Fortnite added Force powers and a Star Wars-themed mini battle pass. Star Wars content has made its way into Fortnite since 2019, so it’s no surprise to see the crossovers continue this year.

GameSpot will report back on this year’s Star Wars content in Fortnite as it’s announced. In February, Disney invested $1.5 billion into Epic Games to create a Disney universe within Fortnite.

May 3 is also the day that The Phantom Menace returns to theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary. On May 4, theaters will show the entire nine-movie, 20-hour Skywalker Saga. Presumably there will be more Star Wars news to come on or before May 4, so keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

Why Deadpool And Wolverine Is Not Called Deadpool 3

A third Deadpool movie is coming this July, but it’s called Deadpool and Wolverine and not Deadpool 3. Why is that? Director Shawn Levy told ScreenRant that Deadpool and Wolverine is different enough from the first two films to stand apart as its own thing. Instead of being just another Deadpool movie, it’s a “two-hander” that features two main characters.

“As far as crafting the Deadpool and Wolverine story, I just felt privileged every day because you’re talking about two massive movie stars in their most iconic roles,” Levy said. “It also gave me an opportunity. It’s the third Deadpool movie, but it’s not Deadpool 3. It’s a different thing that’s very much Deadpool and Wolverine. And it’s not trying to copycat anything from the first two movies. They were awesome, but this is a two-hander character adventure.”

Levy also teased that early screenings of Deadpool and Wolverine have been “extremely, extremely promising.” He said the filmmaking team, in addition to getting positive feedback on what they made, learned more about areas where the editors could “tighten” and places where the pacing could slow down to help provide for a “more durable character moment.”

Deadpool and Wolverine is the first new Deadpool movie since Disney acquired the franchise. Fans worried that Disney would make Deadpool family friendly needn’t worry, as Deadpool and Wolverine is rated R and contains what could be the first utterance of the “pegging” in Disney movie history. Deadpool and Wolverine will also have a crude popcorn bucket.

Fallout 76 Hits A New Concurrent Player Record On Steam

War never changes, but concurrent player counts do for video games. For Fallout 76, the numbers are going up, as the action-RPG set a new all-time record over the weekend on Steam.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), user CHAD: A Fallout 76 Podcast spotted that Fallout 76 had reached a new milestone, with 39,455 people playing the online RPG at the same time on Steam on Sunday, April 14, per SteamDB. That’s the most players together for the Steam version of the title since it launched on the service in April 2020. Fallout 76 originally came out in open beta in October 2018 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Now Playing: Is Fallout 76 Good in 2024?

There are two major factors helping Fallout 76. First off, Amazon Prime’s Fallout show premiered last week to generally favorable reviews across the board. GameSpot’s Fallout series review was also positive, with writer Phil Hornshaw saying: “The show makes a lot of hay from the weird and goofy setting of the game series, and does a great job of filling it with fun, fascinating people.”

Additionally, Fallout 76 is free for a week on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The time varies by platform–though currently the special trial is open to everyone. Meanwhile, Amazon is also offering Fallout 76 to Prime members for free, too. You can pick a PC or Xbox version and keep it going forward.

Last month, Fallout 76 saw the start of Season 16: Duel with the Devil, which brought vault-dwellers back to Atlantic City. The update also added a new questline, side quests, and characters. March also brought about new Fallout Xbox controllers to the Xbox Design Lab.

Portable PlayStation Created By Modder, Combines Vintage Tech With Loads Of Hot Glue

One modder has taken the idea of a portable PlayStation to the next level, transforming an original PlayStation console into a working handheld gaming device. Dubbed the PS Hanami by its creator, YveltalGriffin, the device was made within a month and is packed with vintage parts, “beefy” stereo speakers, and a ton of hot glue to keep everything in place.

According to YveltalGriffin’s description, the motherboard from the PS1 had to be cut in half and rewired by hand to fit inside its new shell. The device can run for up to 2.5 hours on a full charge and is slightly larger than a PS Vita. It uses an XStation optical drive emulator to load games from an SD card. This build does have some slight issues, like no volume control, no heatsinks for when it begins to get “toasty” inside, and a temperamental power button.

Overall, it’s an impressive feat of engineering, although if you’re feeling nostalgic, there are easier alternatives available. A library of emulated PS1 games was available for both the PlayStation Portable and the PS Vita, and with the PlayStation Portal, you can stream classic games from your PS5 to that device via a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. Those methods aren’t as authentic as YveltalGriffin’s PlayStation handheld, but for those of you who don’t want to risk destroying classic gaming hardware or hot glue burns, those are far safer solutions.

For another interesting console from the modding scene, check out the unofficial Nintendo PlayStation, a hybrid of an old SNES and a PlayStation Frankensteined into a tribute to one of gaming’s greatest betrayals.

Civil War Box Office Sets Record For A24, And Here’s Which Movie It Dethroned

Alex Garland’s latest film, Civil War, was released in theaters this past weekend and it made enough money to set the record for the biggest opening weekend ever for film company A24.

The movie earned $25.7 million in North America this weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It carried a production budget of $50 million and is A24’s most expensive film yet, and this doesn’t cover any marketing and promotional expenses.

A24 is better known for relatively lower-budget films like the Oscar-winning Moonlight, Greta Gerwig’s coming-of-age story Lady Bird, Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade, Uncut Gems starring Adam Sandler, and Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, among many others.

A24’s horror movie Hereditary, which was released in 2018, appears to be the company’s previous record-holder for biggest opening weekend in North America ($13.5 million).

Civil War stars Kirsten Dunst as a photojournalist making her way through a divided America that’s in the midst of a second civil war. Nick Offerman stars as the president, with a cast that also includes Wagner Moura, Cailee Spaeny, and Jesse Plemons.

GameSpot’s Civil War review scored the film a 9/10. Reviewer Phil Owen said, “Civil War will work best as an experiential thing, like an atrocity-filled theme park ride that’s a bit more dense than your average Purge flick while still hitting some of the same sweet spots that those movies did.”

As for Garland, he’s known for directing the movies Ex Machina, Annihilation, and Men, in addition to the TV series Devs. Now that Civil War is out, he plans to stop directing movies and instead write films for other people to direct.

Adorable Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Nendoroid Is Available To Preorder Again

In the world of pocket-sized figures, Nendoroids have become popular collectibles for several reasons. These figures tend to look very cute, and they often come bundled with a bunch of swappable accessories. Manufacturer Good Smile Company has produced a ton of these figures, including a line focused on The Legend of Zelda. If you’re looking to add to your Legend of Zelda collection, you can grab this adorable figure of Zelda herself ahead of its April 24 re-release. Like other Nendoroid figures, it has enough articulation to strike a cool pose and comes with a bunch of accessories.

Zelda Nendoroid from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Out of the box, you’ll get three face plates to help change her expression–neutral, smiling, and angry–the Royal White Stallion, a Sheikah Slate, and the Hot-Footed Frog that appeared in the Captured Memories scene when she offered it to Link in Breath of the Wild.

If you’d like to grab a few more figures for your shelf, Amazon has quite the selection. You can pick up a highly posable Link Figma figure based on his look in Skyward Sword. Unlike the upcoming Tears of the Kingdom Link Figma, this one is available to buy at Amazon right now.

If you collect any of the wonderfully detailed First 4 Figures collectibles, several Breath of the Wild characters are available through that company. There’s even a mini Hylian shield replica available to order, perfect for those nights when you need to suddenly convince snooty people that you do indeed have a family coat of arms.

More Legend of Zelda figures

Beyond Zelda, you can also check out a few other Nintendo figures. Mario and Luigi figures are downright charming as Nendoroid figures, while this 30th anniversary edition of everyone’s favorite pink blob, Kirby, will bring a smile to your face. And the King Dedede Nendoroid will give Kirby a fitting foe to battle for premium shelf space.

Get A 512GB SanDisk MicroSD For Only $28

Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and Asus ROG Ally owners can score a very good deal on a SanDisk Ultra 512GB Micro SD card, as this $60 memory card is now on sale for just $28.

At 512GB, you can easily store several modern AAA games and a bunch of indies on it. This microSD card is rated for 150MB/s transfer speeds with A1 performance, which is solid for the card readers found in the aforementioned handhelds–especially the Switch, which doesn’t benefit from added speeds found in cards rated higher than UHS-I (Ultra High Speed Phase I).

For larger capacities, there’s also a 1TB option available for $78 or the 1.5TB Sandisk Ultra for $110.

Amazon microSD card deals

If you want a card with faster read/write speeds for transferring and loading games off a microSD card, you can also check out the SanDisk Extreme 1TB micro SD card. This one does cost more–currently $87–but it offers card offload speeds of up to 190MB/s alongside the increased storage capacity.

In case these are sold out or you want to save a few bucks, we’ve found a few other options like the Silicon Power 1TB Superior and the Lexar 1TB Play microSD cards, both of which are budget storage solutions with thousands of solid user reviews on Amazon.
