Hasbro Hopes Next Baldur’s Gate Game Is Here Before 2050
Baldur’s Gate 3 was a huge success for developer Larian Studios and Hasbro, the latter of which owns Wizards of the Coast and the Dungeons & Dragons series. Despite that success, Larian is moving on to a new project and is not making Baldur’s Gate 4. But Hasbro is keen to continue the Baldur’s Gate series with a different team at the helm.
Eugene Evans, the senior vice president for digital strategy and licensing as Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, told PC Gamer that it’s going to take its time to map out the future of Baldur’s Gate.

“We’re now talking to lots of partners and being approached by a lot of partners who are embracing the challenge of, what does the future of the Baldur’s Gate franchise look like?” Evans said. “So we certainly hope that it’s not another 25 years, as it was from Baldur’s Gate 2 to 3, before we answer that. But we’re going to take our time and find the right partner, the right approach, and the right product that could represent the future of Baldur’s Gate. We take that very, very seriously, as we do with all of our decisions around our portfolio. We don’t rush into decisions as to who to partner with on products or what products we should be considering.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 introduced fan-favorite characters like Shadowheart and Astarion, and these are owned by Wizards of the Coast, not Larian. Evans said these characters are now “essentially part of D&D canon,” and Evans hopes they might appear in future products down the road.
“I think it’s too early to express specifics and I think that there’s a much bigger question about how we approach Baldur’s Gate in the future,” Evans said. “But I would like to think that all of those characters, for the sake of the fans, could potentially appear in future products.”
Beyond a future Baldur’s Gate title, Hasbro is planning a number of other D&D games that will appear “over the next five years,” Evans said. These games will cover “all genres, all platforms,” he confirmed.
One of these games is a multiplayer co-op adventure title from the developers of the Payday series. Meanwhile, the developers of Disney Dreamlight Valley are making a D&D life sim.
As for Larian, the studio has said it’s not making Baldur’s Gate 4 because that is “literally the opposite of what Larian is about.” CEO Swen Vincke said, “We want to do big, new things. We don’t want to rehash the thing that we’ve done already.”

Kingdom Hearts’ Most Famous Song Just Got A Brand-New Version
In 2002, Square Enix debuted the first game in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, which featured original characters mixed with Disney heroes and cameo appearances from Final Fantasy’s fan favorites. Japanese pop star Hikaru Utada performed the main theme for the game, Hikari, which was rearranged for the American release as Simple and Clean. Now, 24 years later, Utada has debuted a new recording of Simple and Clean from her greatest hits album, Science Fiction.
Both versions of Utada’s song have become synonymous with the game. Utada also provided the theme songs for both Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts 3. Presumably, Utada will be invited to do the same for Kingdom Hearts 4, which may be released as soon as 2025 according to a recent rumor. In the meantime, Utada has debuted an updated recording of the Japanese language version of Hikari.
While fans await news about the future of the franchise, Square Enix recently announced that all of the previously released Kingdom Hearts games are coming to Steam on June 13. Prior to that news, Kingdom Hearts and its sequels were exclusive exclusive on PC to the Epic Games Store. This made it much less straightforward to get them running on the Steam Deck.
Get A Free Samsung 50-Inch 4K TV With Your Galaxy Edge4 Laptop Preorder
The Galaxy Book4 Edge releases on June 18, and preorders for the sleek new laptop are now live on Samsung’s online storefront. It looks like a very nice addition to the Samsung laptop lineup, offering a slim design, support for Galaxy AI, and a vibrant AMOLED display. Samsung is offering a terrific preorder bonus with the upcoming Galaxy laptop: a free 50-Inch 4K UHD TV valued at $380. That’s probably the best preorder bonus we’ve ever seen for a laptop–so if you’re interested in the Galaxy Book4 Edge, it’s definitely worth a closer look. And while you’re checking out the Book4, make sure to take a look at the Discover Samsung sales event that’s running all week.
$1,350+
The Galaxy Book4 Edge is available in a variety of configurations across 14- and 16-inch model. All versions are equipped with Windows 11 Home. You’ll also find the option to change its processor from the Snapdragon X Elite (3.4GHz) to the Snapdragon X Elite (3.8Hz) if you want a bit of extra power. Toss in 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage, and you’ve got a well-rounded and speedy productivity laptop that positions itself well as a portable-friendly Windows alternative to the MacBook Air. Pricing starts at $1,350 and scales upward when upgrading its components.
A big selling point of the Book4 Edge is its design. The 14-inch model weighs less than three pounds and is less than half an inch thick, making it easy to toss in a backpack or suitcase before heading to work.
Cashing in on this current offer is simple. Just customize your Galaxy Book4 Edge, add it to your cart, and the Samsung 50-Inch Crystal UHD 4K TV will automatically follow suit.
Regularly priced at $380, this is one of Samsung’s budget-friendly TVs, but it’s still equipped with some nice features. Along with a 4K resolution, it uses Motion Xcelerator technology to reduce lag and reduce blur. And with support for HDR, it shouldn’t have any issues replicating a wide range of colors.
Along with a free TV, Samsung is offering up to $535 in credits when trading in your old devices. You’ll get the most when trading in an iPhone 15 Pro Max, but you’ll still save $345 with the iPhone 14 Pro and $395 with the Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G.

Killing Floor 3 Gets First Dev Diary For The Franchise’s 15th Anniversary
It’s been 15 years since a tiny team of modders first released Killing Floor, kickstarting the popular, blood-soaked horror franchise. Now, the game’s veteran devs have dished on the upcoming Killing Floor 3, discussing just how much has changed at studio Tripwire Interactive in those 15 years.
In the developer-diary video, some of Tripwire’s veteran devs reminisce on the history of the Killing Floor franchise, from its origins with a tiny team creating on a restrictive schedule and budget, to the increased size and scope of Killing Floor 2.

When it came to creating the third game in the franchise, the developers are looking to find the perfect balance between old and new. “I knew I wanted it to return to [Killing Floor 1’s] level of horror, have some cult elements, but become a little more mainstream,” said studio creative director Bryan Wynia, who only joined Tripwire after the release of Killing Floor 2, but has been a fan of the franchise for a lot longer.
Wynia briefly touches on the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the Killing Floor 3 development process–though in this case it actually turned into an unexpected positive. With the entire studio switching to remote work, it meant Tripwire could now “open the floodgates to people that wanted to be part of the team.”
At that point in development, the Tripwire team was working on early concepts for Killing Floor 3, experimenting with fun new ways the game could play. While early prototypes for the game were just rough, greyboxed levels, it was enough for the team to get a feel for what Killing Floor 3’s gruesome reveal trailer might look like when it was ready to reveal it last year.
“It’s been 10 years [since Killing Floor 2]; let’s step the game right up and give people some new challenges,” Tripwire VP Alan Wilson concludes in the anniversary video, which shows off plenty of footage of the new sequel in development.
Killing Floor 3 is set in the year 2091, 70 years after the events of Killing Floor 2. Taking the role of an operative from rebel group Nightfall, the player can join up to five teammates in their fight against megacorp Horzine and its army of obedient bio-engineered monstrosities called Zeds.
Outfit The ROG Ally With A Slick Set Of New Accessories From Dbrand.
Gaming peripherals manufacturer Dbrand has announced new gear for the ROG Ally, which it’s calling Project Killswitch. This is a new grip for the handheld gaming PC that adds a more ergonomic design and extra durability, as well as a kickstand and optional parts like grippy thumbstick covers, travel cover, and a tempered glass screen protector.
Essentially, this is a comprehensive collection of gear to make playing your ROG Ally more comfortable while also keeping it protected.
Priced at $60 for the essentials kit–or “0.0000000085642857% of the annual defense budget,” according to Dbrand’s math–and $75 for the travel kit, this bundle also includes an optional skin for customization.
The screen protector can also be added to either bundle for $20 extra. Dbrand says the cover has a precise fit over an ROG Ally, and the kickstand comes with built-in microSD card storage. This isn’t the first time the company has made cases, as it has a line of Steam Deck accessories available as well. If you prefer console gaming, the Darkplates for PS5 consoles are also pretty great.
Now could be a good time to consider getting an ROG Ally, as with a mid-gen refresh on the horizon, prices could drop soon. The system is a pretty powerful machine–especially if you opt for the Z1 Extreme version–and can handle demanding games relatively well.
It also has a sharp 120Hz screen, 512GB of internal storage, and since it runs on Windows you can install games from a variety of storefronts on it. It doesn’t have the best battery life, and there have been reports of it ejecting microSD cards, but overall this is a good alternative to the Steam Deck.
Currently, Best Buy is offering the entry-level Asus ROG Ally Z1 for $500, while the higher-spec ROG Ally Z1 Extreme is priced at $700.
GTA 6 Release Date Now Set For Fall 2025
Big news for Grand Theft Auto VI today, as Take-Two has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in Fall 2025. Previously, the game was targeting a release at some unspecified point in the year. This could be a delay for GTA VI, as Take-Two had previously indicated a release earlier in 2025.
“Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said. “We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase.”
Pretty much every Rockstar Games release in the past decade has been delayed beyond its original date, so fans hoping to play GTA VI in Fall 2025 might want to emotionally prepare themselves for a potential delay.
GTA VI is reportedly now in the final stages of development. Rockstar Games required most staffers to return to the office beginning April 15 to finish the game and to help prevent leaks. Not all Rockstar workers are happy about this, though, as some say the return-to-office mandate removes a lifeline.
GTA VI is in development at Rockstar North in Edinburgh, Scotland, with Rockstar’s teams around the world supporting the game’s development. Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two has said the developer is seeking “perfection.”
In other news, prolific voice actor Troy Baker recently confirmed he is not voicing the male lead in GTA VI.
Rockstar parent company Take-Two recently announced a cost-cutting plan that resulted in hundreds of layoffs and multiple game cancellations. The games industry at large has seen huge numbers of layoffs so far in 2024.
