Pokemon Go Will Soon Let You Change Your Avatar's Weight And Skin Tone

Pokemon Go Will Soon Let You Change Your Avatar’s Weight And Skin Tone

After announcing the Rediscover Go overhaul earlier this week, Niantic has shared details on some of Pokemon Go’s upcoming changes. Specifically, the studio has shed some light on the new avatar customization options that will be available when the update hits later this year.

Among the biggest changes coming to the Pokemon Go avatar customization suite is the addition of skin tones, which will allow players to more accurately depict their individual skin color. Advanced color options will also be available for each character’s hair and eyes along with the new skin-tone choices.

Body-type customization will also see changes in the Rediscover Go update, with adjustments to body weight and individual body parts–shoulder, hips, and chest among them–all part of the new offerings. All of these options can be found in the in-game style shop, along with new options for avatar clothes and costumes.

The Rediscover Go campaign is set to bring major changes to the overall Pokemon Go experience in the lead-up to its eighth anniversary this summer. Along with avatar-customization updates, the overhaul is set to bring changes to the in-game map, encounter screens, battle screens, and more, all “tailored to your location.”

Avatar changes are the first of four major pillars of the Rediscover Go initiative, with three others set to be revealed in the coming days. The schedule is as follows:

  • Rediscover Your World – April 22
  • Rediscover Kanto – April 22
  • Rediscover Your Reality – May 7

Pokemon Go is available now for iOS and Android devices.

Mad Max 4K Blu-Ray Box Set Is Cheap At Amazon Ahead Of Furiosa’s Release

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga hits theaters on May 24, and it’s already earning rave reviews from critics. It serves as a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, meaning you’ll get more out of the upcoming film if you’ve seen George Miller’s previous work. If you haven’t yet seen Fury Road–or if you just need a refresher–you’ll find the Mad Max 4-Film Anthology on sale for $40 (was $90) leading up to the release of Furiosa, which includes not just Fury Road, but three other entries in the franchise. Alternatively, you can get the High Octane Collection $20 (was $80). Though this one mostly contains standard Blu-rays, it does come with a 4K Blu-ray of Fury Road.

Mad Max 4-Film Anthology Special Features

Along with the four films, you’ll get a few special features. This includes an introduction from film critic Leonard Maltin, commentary from George Miller and Cinematographer Dean Semler, and Road War: The Making of Road Warrior.

Prime members in select locations are eligible for one-day delivery, so it’s possible to check out the collection before the new film hits theaters on May 24.

If you don’t mind stepping down to Blu-ray, you’ll find the Mad Max High Octane Collection on sale for $20 (down from $80). That matches its lowest-ever price. This collection is slightly different than the 4-Film Anthology above, as it gets you the following:

  • Mad Max
  • The Road Warrior
  • Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
  • Mad Max: Fury Road
  • Mad Max: Fury Road (4K UHD)
  • Mad Max: Fury Road Black & Chrome
  • The Madness of Max (Behind-the-scenes documentary)
  • Road War Documentary

Once you’re done catching up on the action, be sure to grab tickets to see Furiosa on May 24. Our Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga review gave the film a 9/10 due to its incredible action scenes, a stellar performance from Anya Taylor-Joy, and an engaging script.

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered’s New Collector’s Edition Is Locked And Loaded With Cool Extras

After launching earlier this year on digital storefronts, a physical edition of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is now available for preorder. The standard edition will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, but fans looking to splurge can also check out a pretty cool deluxe edition and a collector’s edition with neat extras. These will be available on September 24, and they’re being sold through Limited Run Games and several other retailers. By the time you’re finished reading this sentence, the collector’s edition will probably be sold out already.

In case you missed it, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is a comprehensive collection of the original trilogy of games starring Lara Croft. They’ve all been given a fantastic visual makeover, but thanks to the game making use of original assets, you can switch back to the blocky original graphics if you’re feeling nostalgic. On top of the original globetrotting campaign, this collection also bundles in all of the DLC released for those titles.

Preorders aren’t live for the deluxe edition yet, but this version will include a steelbook cover, an exploration map book featuring over 80 pages of secrets from the original trilogy, a collectible box, and the collection’s original soundtrack when it’s available.

For the collector’s edition, Tomb Raider fans get a lot more in the form of three 12×16 posters, a set of premium trading cards, the full collection’s original soundtrack in both physical CD and digital download formats, a map book, and Lara Croft polygonal figurines from each title. The big draw here is a set of two replica Lara Croft pistols in a lit shadow box, and both weapons have a unique pixelated design.

Limited Run Games is also selling Switch Nitro Decks sporting Tomb Raider designs, and these are designed to symbolize Lara’s journey across the trilogy of games. Nitro Decks are very nice for when you’re looking to make your Switch more comfortable to use, and they come with Hall Effect sticks, remappable back buttons, a turbo mode, and several other features. They can be used for either standard or OLED model Switch handhelds.
