Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Gets Rare Discount

When you think of Mega Man, the default image that your mind conjures of Capcom’s Blue Bomber is a plucky android blasting his way through hordes of robots looking to take over the world. That’s a formula that remained firmly in place for years, but if you’re looking for something entirely different in that franchise, then now is a great time to pick up Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, which is now on sale for $48 for Nintendo Switch and $47 for PS4 at Amazon.

Originally launching for the Game Boy Advance (and Nintendo DS) throughout the early 2000s, the Battle Network series is vastly different to your typical Mega Man experience. Instead of run-and-gun action with challenging platforming, the Battle Network series are story-driven tactical RPGs with random encounters. Set in an alternate timeline where the world has connected itself to a vast network, players can choose to swap between protagonist Lan Hakari and his NetNavi avatar, MegaMan.EXE, and take on hackers, cyber-terrorists, and various other programs up to no good.

This is a comprehensive collection as well, as all 6 mainline games in the Battle Network series are included. The Battle Network series adopted a Pokemon-style two-game release model, so you’ll technically get 10 games:

  • Mega Man Battle Network
  • Mega Man Battle Network 2
  • Mega Man Battle Network 3: Blue
  • Mega Man Battle Network 3: White
  • Mega Man Battle Network 4: Red Sun
  • Mega Man Battle Network 4: Blue Moon
  • Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Protoman
  • Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Colonel
  • Mega Man Battle Network 6: Cybeast Gregar
  • Mega Man Battle Network 6: Cybeast Falzar

Other neat features include a new visual filter that smooths out the original pixelated look of the GBA games, a dedicated jukebox with over 180 tracks from the franchise to listen to, and Battle Chips that can be collected and exchanged with other NetBattlers around the world.

Like several other retro compilations, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection also has a mammoth collection of concept art, character sketches, and official illustrations that you can admire in the game’s gallery. Online private battles, casual battles, and ranked matches are also included if you’re up to the challenge.

For some traditional Mega Man action on Nintendo Switch, you can pick up the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 physical release at Amazon for $32.45. You can also get the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection for $30 at Amazon.
